Formed in 1991, the Association of Families & Friends (AFF) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the students at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. We support them by improving their school environment, by helping them attain their professional goals, and by assisting them and their families in adjusting to the rigors of academic and clinical life at RWJMS. All families and friends of RWJMS students are considered part of the organization. The AFF also provides parents and families the opportunity to socialize with one another, while working to fulfill important goals.
Funds are raised through donations and the sale of RWJMS-branded merchandise.
Examples of AFF accomplishments include:
- Helped send 16 RWJMS students to Australia, China, Europe, South Africa, Tibet, and Zambia, among others, for international research and clinical opportunities;
- Contributed funds to help defray costs for 17 RWJMS students to present research papers at 17 different medical conferences around the country;
- Provided funds to support student organizations;
- Made available short-term interest-free emergency loans to students;
- Acquired a new Anchor ACL portable podium and microphone for student events;
- Purchased three 42” Samsung Plasma HDTVs for RWJMS campuses in Piscataway and New Brunswick.
The Association meets four times a year from 7:15 to 9 PM in the Dean’s conference room on the Piscataway campus. Click here for meeting schedule.
